Yet another busy month at Berrymede. I am pleased to report that several visitors to the school, including the Metropolitan Police who presented at workshops, have commented upon the excellent manners and behaviour of our students as well as the warm welcome from staff.
Our reading campaign moves into Spring Term with vigour and excitement as the FRED (Fathers reading Every Day) programme launches on Thursday 2Nd March – children are reading and really enjoying the experience. I thank all our parents for their support. Do continue the good work! I wish all our families good health and happiness.

Ealing Schools Counselling Partnership
As part of the Ealing Schools Counselling Partnership there will be a regular Parent’s drop In at Berrymede Juniors between 9-10am. This is a strictly confidential space in which you may discuss
any concerns you have about your child(ren) and/or receive emotional support due to difficulties that maybe going on in your life i.e. bereavement, separation, stress, anxiety, etc. If you would like to attend or would like more information contact our therapist, Eleni Vambouli, Tel: 07469-701260, E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org or leave a message with the school office and she will get back to you.
The Space – A Place to Talk
We have a lunchtime drop-in every Monday called The Space for children who feel vulnerable in the playground or who have something that is concerning them. This is a place where they can come and talk alone or with a friend about their worries. The service is provided by the Ealing Schools’ Counselling Partnership, funded by John Lyon, that we helped set up. If you do not want your child to use this service, please let us know.
Collecting children from School
If your child is collected by someone other than yourself the school needs to be informed. If this is a regular occurrence please inform the office in writing, if it is a one off occurrence please ring the office as soon as possible and they will inform the class teacher. Children will not be allowed to go unless permission has been granted. Pupils in Year 3 and 4 are not permitted to be collected by siblings in year 5 or 6.
A superb Shakespeare production!
Well done to the cast and backstage crew involved in Berrymede’s latest production of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. It was good to see nearly a full house on a very wet and windy Wednesday last month. All the performers were confident, knew their lines and were able to project their voices so we could all hear. During the many years I have been involved with the school it’s always a pleasure to come and see a show. Thanks to all the staff involved for their hard work, particularly Mr Jeffs (Director). Looking forward to the next one! Sara Jukes - Governor
It has been a busy spring term for sports at Berrymede Junior school. Our Dance, Basketball, Gymnastics and Tai Chi squads have been working hard getting ready for competitions coming up in Spring Term 2.
A huge well-done to our Hockey A and B teams, who narrowly missed out on a semi-final place in the borough finals.
This was despite a fantastic effort winning 5 and only losing one game against the eventual runners up Mount Carmel Primary school.
