Featherstone SSP School Games Support £2000

Terms 1-3

  • Deliver 17 School Games Competitions with pathways to Level 3 of the School Games
  • Deliver 4 Year 3/4 Change 4 Life Festivals
  • Deliver 4 Year 1/2 Multi Skills Festivals
  • Co-ordinate and manage the workplan of the three primary School Games Hubsites
  • Support every school to complete the School Games Mark accreditation
  • Co-ordinate the School Games Management Group
  • Provide minutes to Primary schools from the School Games Management group meetings
  • Provide termly finance reports on spend against the School Games programme
  • Deliver 3 teacher training sessions to support schools delivery of the School Games.
  • Deliver an awards evening to celebrate the success of schools and students through the School Games.
  • Provide each school with a competition calendar.
  • Provide each school with access to Featherstone SSP website to sign up for all competitions and CPD.
  • Electronic updates sent to schools chosen PE lead teachers and Head Teachers.
  • Inform schools as soon as possible to any changes to scheduled support, competitions and CPD.

Featherstone SSP Sport Premium support £2000

Terms 1-3

  • 21 hours of bespoken in-school support supporting the delivery of the Sport Premium.
  • Up to date information on PE and school sport to be provided to all Partnership schools.
  • Deliver three teacher training sessions for teachers.
  • Electronic updates sent to schools chosen PE lead teachers and Head Teachers.
  • Disseminate examples of good practice through the partnership.
  • Develop links with external companies / providers / NGB’s / Local Authority to enhance to opportunities for staff development and pupils experiences.
  • Youth Sport Trust membership for each school. Including access to the Youth Sport Trust Quality Mark.
  • School license to the Create Development Sport Premium and Health progress wheel
  • Half Year and end of year progress reports.
  • Agreed development plan for each school, with clear focus area for bespoken support and agreed outcomes.

Climbing development and engagement £1000

Term 1

  • Training for staff to instruct on the climbing/bouldering wall
  • Risk assessments written and procedures put in place.
  • Testing of staff to use the wall

Term 2

Monitoring system in place and checked by Arrampica

  • Optional tests for new staff to qualify
  • Support with and issues arising from the wall

Term 3

  • Monitoring system in place and checked by Arrampica
  • Optional tests for new staff to qualify
  • Support with and issues arising from the wall

Long Term

  • Every child to have the opportunity to experience climbing/bouldering at Berrymede.
  • The school to be leading the way with innovative curriculum design
  • The school to ensure that it is up to date with safety protocols and procedures.

Tai Chi-£2000

Term 1

  • Trials for y4,5,6 to select a squad ready for tournaments.
  • Session for children with OT to be run 12.30-1.15
  • Members of staff to attend sessions for CPD

Term 2

  • Squad session to get children ready for competitions both between local schools and nationally
  • Session for children with OT to be run 12.30-1.15
  • Members of staff to attend sessions for CPD

Term 3

  • Squad session to get children ready for competitions both between local schools and nationally
  • Session for children with OT to be run 12.30-1.15
  • Members of staff to attend sessions for CPD

Long Term

  • Participation levels increased
  • More children have opportunities to try activities they wouldn’t normally
  • Establishing links with community groups
  • Groups will be able to be targeted and monitored
  • A broader enriching range of sport offered at Berrymede

Dance £1500-Teacher training; £3000- Clubs/ Competition and child development structure.

Term 1

  • Dance audition to take place for all year groups and a street dance squad to be formed.
  • Dance teacher to run a Saturday club based at Berrymede to ensure children have a pathway for dance.
  • In class support of dance teaching for Year 3 staff 6 weeks each
  • New contemporary dance club after school subsidized to be more affordable.

Term 2

  • Dance squad to be entered in local and national competitions
  • Children to be monitored with dance target system
  • Monitoring of Saturday and Wednesday clubs

Term 3

  • Dance squad to be entered in local and national competitions
  • Children to be monitored with dance target system

Westway partnership £2000

Term 1

  • Westway to provide CPD for school staff to keep them up to date with climbing safety procedures
  • Prep for Wales trip
  • Children to attend 1 hour a week climbing sessions at Westway

Term 2

  • Children to enter the local bouldering league and the National Youth climbing series.
  • NIBAS training for PE lead and selected staff.
  • Prep for wales trip
  • Westway to provide CPD for school staff to keep them up to date with climbing safety procedures

Term 3

  • Wales trip to take place.
  • NIBAS implementation for clubs or curriculum
  • Westway to provide CPD for school staff to keep them up to date with climbing safety procedures

Long term

  • School play and lunchtime activity will increase and be maintained.
  • Access to the PE curriculum and other areas for children at break and lunch times.
  • A broader, more rich curriculum

Route setting and Climbing wall maintenance/Competition £1500

Term 1

  • New climbing holds to be investigated and a decision made on what to purchase.
  • A route setter found to work with the school on a bi annual basis and enquire about training for staff.

Term 2

  • Climbing holds to be purchased
  • Climbing/traverse walls to be reset

Term 3

  • School based competition to be run on the bouldering wall inviting
  • Westway squad children after last year’s successful event.
  • Training for staff on route setting
  • Climbing/traverse walls to be reset

National school sports week. (focus on new sports/parental engagement) £4000

Term 1

  • Planning a week to engage not only children but parents in new activities such as fencing, whole group dance and educate on the benefits of exercise.

Term 2

  • Planning a week to engage not only children but parents in new activities such as fencing, whole group dance and educate on the benefits of exercise.

Term 3

  • Delivery of National school sports week program. The focus of which will be to introduce 2 new sports and increase parental engagement in physical activity

Long Term

  • Better parental /child engagement in sporting activity
  • A memorable week to promote exercise
  • New sports potentially offered at Berrymede
